Dufour 39: a new sailboat, three ways to experience sailing

Unveiled in a world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the new Dufour 39 expands the Dufour range with an approach centered on versatility and customization. Designed to accommodate a variety of sailing programs, this new 39-foot sailboat combines sailing performance, onboard comfort, and flexible configurations. As she currently undergoes sea trials for the European Yacht of the Year awards, Dufour offers a closer look at the vision behind her design through a dedicated video featuring its naval architects and designers.

A NEW MODEL DESIGNED TO MEET SAILORS’ EXPECTATIONS

With the Dufour 39, the shipyard continues the renewal of its lineup, now completely redesigned from the Dufour 37 to the Dufour 54.

Positioned between Dufour 37 and Dufour 41, this new model responds to a demand identified among owners and Dufour’s international dealer network. In a key segment of the recreational sailing market, she expands the Dufour lineup by offering an alternative to the Dufour 41, with an approach suited to a wide range of sailors and sailing programs.

Her development was driven by one ambition: to design a sailboat that adapts to each sailor’s expectations, giving them the freedom to prioritize comfort, the thrill of sailing, or a balance between the two.

This philosophy fully reflects Dufour’s new brand identity, where design and sailing performance come together to create a more instinctive sailing experience.

THREE DECK LAYOUTS, ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
One of the defining features of Dufour 39 is her versatility. Rather than imposing a single configuration, the new model offers three distinct deck layouts: Easy, Comfort, and Performance.

Each configuration reflects a different approach to sailing:
– Easy, for a simple, streamlined sailing experience.
– Comfort, prioritizing social spaces, relaxation areas, and quality of life on board.
– Performance, with a greater focus on sail trim, handling, and the sensations of sailing.

These three approaches can be further enhanced through a wide range of equipment and customization options.

Depending on the owner’s preferences, the Dufour 39 can be equipped with a square-top mainsail, six winches, and a cockpit mainsheet traveler for a more performance-oriented sailing experience.

Alternatively, features such as the outdoor galley, forward and aft sunpads, and folding cockpit table create inviting spaces for relaxation and shared moments on board.

More than simply choosing between comfort and performance, Dufour 39 allows each owner to find their own balance between the two.

INTERIOR LAYOUTS DESIGNED FOR DIFFERENT SAILING PROGRAMS
This freedom of configuration extends to the yacht’s interior.

Available with two or three cabins, the Dufour 39 offers several layout options, allowing owners to adapt the living spaces to their needs and sailing habits.

On the forward port side, a storage area can be replaced with an office or a bathroom. Aft on the port side, different configurations allow owners to prioritize storage, an additional cabin, or a shower area.

These options accommodate the needs of couples sailing together, as well as families or crews looking for additional accommodations.

This modular approach reflects Dufour’s commitment to creating a sailboat that adapts to her owner’s sailing plans, rather than the other way around.
